Some words About this exhibition:
As
an artist who preaches for the exhibition art works in public spaces,
my own work is also presented in spaces outside the category of the '
white cube ' which comprises of galleries and museums.
This
happened when works returned from exhibitions both in Israel and abroad
when they are damaged as a result of prolonged display, at direct
sunlight; extreme temperature and humidity variations; impact due to
falling through negligence during transport or handling; pests and so
on.
This Exhibition allows the visibility of these works while on the production process of the restoration.
This
process caused a deluge of desire to display the hidden and the
disavowed place, "certified" to lack of skill and knowledge of the
artist.
The
exhibition was preceded by visits to the conservation lab at the Museum
of Fine Arts in Budapest. Conversations were held with restoration
experts and artists who deal with restoration; with artists whose works
were damaged. An investigation was conducted on collectors who purchased
older works and sent them to restoration centers. The research was
conducted on this subject in the digital space which contains a lot of
information on the subject.
The
works are on different stages of the craft of the clinic: at the stage
of removing loose paint or yellowed varnish; when adding strengthening
and completing the painting.
The exhibited paintings are made with oil color on plywood or canvas
When
collector or an artist is attended as to lend artworks to a museum,
etc., the financial damage and distress factors increase the
difficulties in drafting contracts for the future display of art.
